Stephanie Lato
Advocacy Ambassador

"As a historian, I believe that forgetting is not an option and that righting a wrong is an achievable goal. I also believe that storytelling is how we make sense of the world and learn to understand the lives of others within their own circumstances. These beliefs are what drew me to Legacies of War and my role as an Advocacy Ambassador."
My Story
I’m Stephanie Lato, a development and program professional based in New York City, working at the intersection of social impact and interactive media. I currently work at the nonprofit Games for Change, supporting fundraising efforts for events and programs that use games to address complex global issues and expand access to education and opportunity.
My academic background is in history, with a focus on the long-term impact war has on culture and everyday life. Put another way, the relationship between war, people, and technology. My master’s thesis examined the lasting effects of nuclear fear through video games, while other projects traced the legacy of Agent Orange and other advanced weaponry as reflected in film and popular culture.
