Sithida Nhongvongsithi
Advocacy Ambassador
My Story
Sithida Nhongvongsithi has spent more than 6 years in the UXO sector in Lao PDR working in various positions, whether with a humanitarian UXO operator working to clear UXO on the ground, or under the Government agency in charge of overseeing the UXO sector.
Sithida and Legacies of War crossed paths during a field visit to UXO victims in a far-away village in Savannakhet province. The bond of friendship has transformed into a life-long connection, which has continued until this day even under uncertain political and funding landscapes. Through their advocacy work, Legacies of War represents a bridge, one between countries, Laos and the US, and one between the past and the future.
Passionate about the UXO sector, peacebuilding, and development, Sithida currently works in the private sector in a capacity building role, and together with Legacies of War, hopes to continue shedding light on the deadly legacy of the past by educating future generations, and to ensure the ‘passing of the torch’.
