Ryan Emerson
Advocacy Ambassador

"It is an honor and a pleasure to be an advocacy ambassador with Legacies of War. Legacies' work in education and advocacy continues to play an important role in my academic career, and the attention we bring to the remnants of armed conflict directly impacts human lives."
My Story
Ryan is a graduate of Bennington College where he studied cultural anthropology and Chinese, and is currently working as an educator in rural Virginia. He will be pursuing an MA at the Johns Hopkins Nanjing Center in China in the fall of 2025 where he plans to study political community and renewable energy. Ryan was introduced to the issue of UXO in Southeast Asia through travel in the region and a Bachelor's thesis that explored the relationship between imperial projects in Southeast Asia and dining culture in the United States. He is a strong believer in the power of food and culture to connect global communities and advance humanitarian causes.
