“As a social worker, I see how systems touch everything, everything is connected, interdependent, an ecosystem that relies on and impacts the other. As a community organizer I’ve learned we have collective power to impact and change these systems, to put care back in our own hands, the hands of ancestors and land, to reclaim our access to healing, learning, and wisdom which was erased and silenced."
My Story
I'm Devin Xayasomloth and I'm a queer mixed-race psychotherapist living in San Diego, CA also known as Kumeyaay Land. I’ve worked in community based mental health since 2014 and channel this passion into supporting others on their healing path in holistic and culturally-attuned ways. I run a solo therapy practice and support community organizing efforts in San Diego that center community care, social justice, and resourcing queer communities and bodies of culture in culturally diverse and nature-based healing.
I was privileged to receive an education in Psychology and Social Work, which informs my understanding of history, public health, and social determinants of health affecting/impacting our well-being and healing. Everything is political, our health and our healing are impacted by every system we touch or our family has been touched by, for generations. My current explorations of writing, creativity, and communion with each other, land, and earth as ancestral technology for healing and growth reminds me of the power of story. Our families’ stories, our bodies stories’, the land’s story carry wisdom that reminds us of what heals us. And we have collective power to change and heal these stories together.
